Since the launch of Bold Beanies I've had some great feeback. Thank you for everyone that has taken the time to write in, here's a sample of what you've been saying:
"Have been looking for hours on the internet. Your hats are PERFECT ; fun, sporty, comfy, not-a-cancer-look and pretty!"
"As a chemotherapy nurse at Clatterbridge, i often speak to new patients about their chemotherapy and the side effects including hair loss.
I was planning on dropping you a line last night but it got a bit late, then lo and behold, in my clinic today, there was one of your lovely beanies perched on the head of one of my ladies! She told me she had spoken to you on the phone and that you were very helpful and reassuring (and that the beanie was very comfy!)."
"I'd just like to say ... how lovely are your beanies... i was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and i'm really trying to be positive for everyone around me - my friend came this morning with a Beanie for me and its really cheered me up...i've got a wig - but like you i dont get on with it... in fact i hate it and have got quite an abundance of scarves. My daughter is 11 and she really struggles with me not having anything on my head - to the extent she won't come in my bedroom/bathroom if she thinks i've nothing on my head - which is quite hard sometimes 'cos you just want to wip it off to cool down - but hey ho.
So i'd just like to say a big thankyou.. because of you and my friend you have given me a big lift today."
"Many thanks for the swift deliver of the beanie hats I ordered.
I thought you may like to know how I found out about you. Well I had
a hospital appointment for the result of a scan and I bought the Daily
Post. I was sitting waiting to go in and came across the article about
your situation and what you had done. I have lost my hair twice before
and always found it difficult to keep a scarf on and had bought various
hats as you did. I did find that tying a scarf like they used to do in
the war with the knot at the front was the most comfortable and
serviceable way for night time. I am now waiting to start another
course of chemo on Monday and this time I will loose my hair again so I
feel that I am now prepared and not getting upset at not being
comfortable particularly at night."
"Dear Emilie, I ordered a beanie from you a couple of weeks ago and have just placed an order on your website for two more.
I'm on day 4 of my second chemo cycle (for breast cancer the same as you) and am feeling absolutely rotten. I had my head shaved at the beginning of this week following your advice earlier - it's soul destroying seeing hair on your pillow or by the plug after a shower isn't it?
I am so glad I had my beanie waiting at home for me as my head was/is so cold that I wouldn't have felt as comfortable without it. Thank you for having such a brilliant idea - it would never have crossed my mind that my head would be so cold before it was too late and then I would have felt even worse about having no hair!
I've been wearing the beanie all day at home which I think has made it easier for the kids to accept too - my 6 year old son called me a boy all the first day & I'm currently known as the boiled egg - not sure which is worse! My 3 year old daughter says I look funny but is keen on the beanie! When I'm not wearing it - she's got it on.
So, thanks again. I'm so glad I spotted your stuff on ebay, you've made this part of my treatment a lot easier."
